So today was the first day teaching and I definitely had some expectations going into it. After our meeting with the teachers last week, we kind of felt like our school was going to be super strict and that we weren't going to have very much fun. The native speaker at our school is from Canada and she didn't seem nice at all.
But after the first day, my ideas have completely changed! I love my students sooo much. It's going to be the best three weeks ever and I have a feeling that at the end of it, I am going to miss them a lot. I have intermediate speakers for my homeroom class. They didn't like to talk much. I think they were very shy and nervous to meet an American. Only one girl talked and asked me questions. My second class is the beginner class and they seemed to talk a little bit more. They still weren't completely talking but were definitely not as shy as the first. Today's lesson was school supplies and they seemed to catch on quicker than we thought they would.
By far, my favorite class is my afternoon class. It is first graders and they are definitely the cutest things ever. They all were trying so hard to talk to us in English. Their lesson was family and we played some pretty fun games with them. They seemed so much more eager to learn from us than the older students. Their English was actually a lot better than I thought it would be. I had so much fun with them. I wish I had them every day and the other kids only tuesday and thursday. It would be amazing to get to see those cute little first grade faces every morning!
The plan for tonight is to just hang out at home and read. I haven't gotten to speak with my host family a lot because they are never home so I'm going to try to talk to them a little bit more. My blogs might not be as exciting anymore because we don't have anything else really besides teaching but I will try to update everyone if anything worth while happens at school!
MISS YOU ALL!!!
